646f9e108c The Malaysian drug trade is run by Singhania and his right hand man, Don - a suave, cynical and dangerous man. Don kills gang member Ramesh who wanted to leave the gang. Ramesh's fiancée Kamini tries to get Don arrested but fails. Ramesh's sister Roma too is out for revenge. The Indian police are after Don and manage to capture him. A plan is hatched by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) DeSilva to train a street singer look-alike and send him back to Malaysia to infiltrate the gang and help the police. Roma has found a place within the gang and wants to kill Don. But nothing is as it seems, no one is to be believed. The story twists and turns and packs in surprise upon surprise before culminating in a gripping finale that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A simple man, Vijay, is recruited by a police officer to masquerade as Don, the leader of an international gang of smugglers. But things go wrong when the officer is killed and Vijay is left to fend for himself. Now i haven't seen the original Big B version but this film was really bad, and i mean really bad i just can't believe that i wasted 3 hours watching this film. Lord have mercy but please do not watch this film, i would much rather watch the original with Big B starring as Don, i bet he did a much better job than Shahrukh, god he was so not right for the part, John Abraham of maybe even Sanjay Dutt could have played the lead, not Shahrukh, he does not suit the villain type roles.

Priyanka was okay i guess in this film and i really love Isha Koppiker she was just brill. the music is worth buying but th movie really sucks, the was a waste of time and money. Simply put, Don (2006) does a terrible job as a remake. The acting by the entire cast, including Irani (although he wasn't given much to go on) was abysmal. The cinematography was poor to the point where it looked like a cheap knock-off of good Hollywood action flicks.

The 'electronic' background score stuck out like a sore thumb. It sounded like Moby would after being forced-fed a traditional Christmas roast.

But what made this movie truly pathetic was the lack of any character development. It was hard to relate or appreciate any character. All there was on display was an "attempt" to be slick, a hallmark of B-grade action films.

And finally to end this tirade, the only redeeming factor in this film was the plot twist at the end (which is different from the old Don). To be honest, even that falls flat as this film is a "remake" and after 2 1/2 hrs of watching a terrible movie, its difficult to get excited about the plot twist. A twist like that in a different and original plot line (with better acting etc. etc.) 'might' go down well, but not here.
